Fifties was truly the decade that gave birth to the genre of the Roll Rock ‘n’ and where Elvis Presley burst onto the scene as a fresh face musician with a totally new sound. When his grinding hips and provocative dance moves caused a controversy with the old, while endearing him to the hearts and minds of young people. These days, the ongoing popularity of Elvis memorabilia is a testament to a legendary call of King and stamina, not to see any signs of slowing.
Other musical styles that were prevalent in the fifties, including the proper sound of the Rat Pack, with artists like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and lead while Jerry Lee Lewis gave the sound of rock ‘n roll “a country twist.

Commonly known as the Golden Age of Television, “the 50 years were a time of tremendous growth in the number of households had their own TV. Entertainment Events were popular, and this is where the first talent really began in earnest. Some BBC programs, including Panorama, began in this decade and are still strong today, while others such as “I Love Lucy” was imported from America and enjoyed great popularity on both sides of the Atlantic.
